Oak Bay Recreation Center
Polar Engineering & Oak Bay have been involved in energy conservation for a long time now and the savings have really been adding up.
Polar Engineering worked with the City of Oak Bay and the contractor Accent Refrigeration to design and engineer an energy recovery system which takes heat from the ammonia refrigeration system and uses it to heat the facility pool and DHW (Domestic Hot Water) . This system drastically reduced the facility’s greenhouse gas emissions.
It’s not just about saving money. Since Oak Bay signed on the Climate Action Charter, Oak Bay Recreation Centre reduced their greenhouse gas emissions by more than 50%.
